Last week I once again found myself hurrying through BWI airport to catch a plane for a week away from home. Usually I have a ritual once passing security which involves grabbing a sandwich to take on the plane and a large cup of coffee. This time though I was caught off guard by the sound of cheers, applause and people shouting endearments such as, “THANK YOU! We thank you for your service! Welcome home! Welcome to Washington DC!”
So, for the first time in a long time I paused in an airport to take in the sights and sounds of an extra ordinary moment. There disembarking from a plane were more than a dozen WWII veterans who had flown to Washington DC to visit the WWII memorial. Many were in wheelchairs. The event was obviously sponsored by a local USO or veterans group. Without blinking I reached f0r my Flip Video camera and recorded what moments I could. I will let the video tell the rest of the story.
Louise…love this…thank you for posting it! Thank you to our of our veteran’s for their many sacrifices. Blessings to you all!
